2007 International Home Show
Orlando, Florida was host to the 2007 International Builders’ Show which was organized by the National Association of Home Builders and a record 1900 exhibitors turned out to showcase their products.
These times are tough on the building industry and many builders are trying to cut costs and still find ways to be more profitable. This could be the reason why this year’s show has generated such a heightened interest.
The show itself is spread over mammoth 1.5 million square feet filled with exhibits touting the latest home products, building trends and home sales techniques. The show’s popularity encourages attendees to introduce their new products and services at the venues. This year, FAFCO Inc. will display two new models of solar water heaters, one is a do-it-yourself model while the other has to be installed by professionals. Other products on display included an automatic deodorizing toilet seat by Brondell Inc., Turbochef’s Doublewall Speedcook Oven and Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath’s Home Spa Towel Warming Drawer.
Some companies spent more than $1 million on elaborate booth displays for their products. Scores of home builders and re-modellers came to the venue looking for new products. Some products and trends could be put into use immediately on purchase. While others provided a glimpse of what could be in demand in the future. A high-tech home that allows the owner to remotely turn on the heating while in the driveway might be an interesting concept but may not be acceptable in a majority of homes.
Increasingly, the show has become accessible directly to the consumer through media coverage of the event.
