Checking Water Pipes Before Buying A Home

Many home buyers get so taken up by the beauty of a home that they forget to check many important things in the house before buying it. One such thing that needs utmost attention is the water pipes.

There is no doubt that water pipes in most houses are enough to ensure that you get hot showers when you move into the new house and will take care of all your needs related to water. However, if there is a problem with the water pipes that located in the interior, you will not just end up with a huge repair bill but also have your daily routine and life turned upside down.

The water pipes that are located in the interior of the house not checked by potential buyer because of their location. They are located behind walls and most people forget about them till the pipe springs a leak and bursts inside the wall. Leaking water pipes can lead to rot or mold formation which can affect your health. A burst pipe will end up flooding your home and ruining your carpet and wall.

The best water piping material is copper and it usually lasts for a very long time and is resistant to deposit build ups. Copper pipes are expensive and will tell you a lot about the quality of construction if they are used in the a home.

PVC pipes mean that the owner did the piping himself as most construction companies do not use PVC. Do not buy a home with PVC pipes since it is illegal to have PVC piping in homes.

Iron pipes were favored for years long ago. However, people hardly use them these days since they are susceptible to water and rust with age. Iron piping usually last for 30 years without problem so always check when the piping was done. If you have to replace the piping, make sure you use copper pipes this time round.

Water piping may seem very trivial but you will not think so when a pipe bursts, floods your home and the cost of repairing the burst can be huge.
